In Astronomy, image quality is often described in terms of seeing. Seeing is an essential parameter in simulating Galileo observations. In our simulations we used a 6’’ seeing following Racine & Wesemael 2008, PASP 120, 465.

Our description of atmospheric turbulence is based on a Kolmogorov phase screen in the frozen flow approximation (Taylor, 1938). This approximation requires that turbulence is fixed during the measurement, see for example Lane et al. 1992, Waves in Random Media 2, 209 or van Dam 2003.
